2023 Grantee Receptions
Thank you for joining us!
Our 2023 Western and Eastern Mass. Grantee Receptions took place on October 4 at Western New England University School of Law and October 12 at the Massachusetts Bar Association.
The events celebrated grant recipients and highlighted two members of the MBF’s philanthropic community. Fellows, donors, friends, and representatives from many of the 75 programs currently funded by the MBF were in attendance.
This year, the MBF awarded $3.4 million in grants through its annual Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Grants Program. These programs help thousands of individuals and families in Massachusetts each year who have legal issues relating to housing, immigration, health care, access to special education services, domestic violence, discrimination and more.
MBF President Angela C. McConney served as emcee of both events and presented the 2023 President’s Awards, which are given annually and recognize exceptional MBF supporters for their commitment to increasing access to justice for the most vulnerable in our state.
In Springfield, Western New England University School of Law Dean Zelda Harris welcomed those in attendance and Attorney Brad Gordon of Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority made remarks as the grantee speaker. The President’s Award was presented to Attorney Jeffrey Trapani of Pierce Davis & Perritano. Click here to view the event program.
In Boston, Attorneys Georgia Katsoulomitis and Virginia Benzan, both of Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, participated as grantee speakers. The President’s Award was presented to Attorney John Achatz, an Access to Justice Fellow. Click here to view the event program.
