MBF Proudly Supports Ms. JD Determined to Rise Academy

The Massachusetts Bar Foundation proudly sponsored the Ms. JD Determined to Rise Academy at Northeastern University School of Law on October 26th. This program, hosted in collaboration with the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, aims to demystify the legal profession for middle school girls.

The one-day event was designed to break down barriers through education, mentorship, and leadership development. The Academy connected participants with law students and attorneys, creating an empowering space to explore the possibilities of legal careers. Sessions covered key topics such as the path to becoming a lawyer, the power of leadership, and understanding legal terminology – all designed to inspire and equip the next generation of women in law.

MBF Trustee Patrice Dixon generously volunteered her time to support this inspiring event. “Determined to Rise was an incredible opportunity to ignite passion and curiosity about the legal profession in middle school girls. I was honored to be part of a program that inspires the leaders of tomorrow,” said Dixon.

Dixon was joined by fellow members of the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys at the event, including: Araba Adjei-Koranteng, Cassandra Prince, Danielle Johnson, Lueteshia Raymond, and Morine Mitchell.

The MBF recognizes the need for greater access to the legal profession, particularly for young girls of diverse backgrounds, and remains committed to supporting Ms. JD’s mission of empowering women to make their mark on the legal world.
